Bring the Feel of Spring into Your Home
It's time to put away the dark and heavy feeling decor and bring out the bright and light feeling counterpart. How can we bring in the feel of spring into our homes? There are so many ways to brighten our homes; throw pillows are a great way to bring in bright colour. Decorative pillows can be costly so if you are able to sew, you can make seasonal covers instead of buying pillows for each season.
I am great with outdoor live plants but not so great with indoor so I bring in artificial or dried plants like grasses that can be put into baskets or glass vase. Artificial Gerber daisies look great if you put one in a glass vase with some small stones on the bottom. Remember to use an odd number of flowers. You can find a lot of these items at Michaels, Wal-Mart and small decor boutiques.
Spring bulb potted plants are a great way to bring the outdoors in two ways: through colour and fragrance. I love the Hyacinths flower - anyone who knows this flower knows about the truly amazing wonderful colour and fragrance that it gives. Once the flower has died you can plant the bulb in your garden to enjoy next year.
Another way to bring the smell of spring into your home is by candles and fragrance oils. The body shop has a great selection of fragrant oils; my favourite is 'moonflower'. Most local stores have great candles (I get mine at my local co-op Langley store).
These are just a few ideas for you this spring; remember to use anything in your home that represents spring to you.
Don't forget to take time to enjoy this most wonderful spring season, remember to stop and smell the flowers!
