About Tammy
I am the passionate entrepreneur behind White Lily Redesigns. Before I even knew the restyling and decluttering profession even existed, I was always providing similar services for friends and family. Can you imagine my delight when I realized I was training all that time to be a professional at what I loved to do!
As a stay-at-home mom, I appreciate the importance of having a home feel fresh, organized and new - even when new items just aren't in the budget. Over the years, I learned many restyling tricks with my old things and more importantly, devised systems to keep my family organized. And yes, they all know exactly what goes where because they were taught that everything has its place in the home!
Now that I organize and restyle homes for a living, I love helping my clients create warm, inviting, and decluttered living spaces.
I invite you to read the interview below and get to know more about what I can do for you. I hope it will answer some questions you may have. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you wish to discuss anything further!

An Interview With Tammy
What does it mean to be an organizer?
An organizer is someone who comes into a home and helps people who are overwhelmed with clutter make clear decisions on what to keep and what to get rid of.
Why is it important to be clutter-free and organized?
Simple: to have a home that brings about peace and relaxation. To live in a space where everything has a home and you know exactly where everything is. To be in a home that used to take hours to put back together now only take minutes.
Does every home have the same solutions?
There are basic steps that I use in most homes to get the process started, but each home has a different flow, personality and needs. When I work in a home, we create systems that are unique to each situation.
What steps do you take to help solve your client's issues?
After I have toured the home for the first time, we sit down and figure out the underlying reason for why the home is cluttered. A lot of my clients have what I call a "life happens" situation. There might be an illness or a death and sometimes life just gets so busy and overwhelming that things simply got out of control. Once we have got to the root of why, then we decide on the best place to start and focus our attention there first. The rest just falls into place as we move forward.
Where do you start in a home that is overwhelmed with clutter?
Each home can be different as to its optimal starting point. If I have been called in to help with just one room, then of course we start there. If the whole home needs help then I like to start in the room that will affect the person or family in the most positive way. For example if a busy family needs a space to reconnect, we will start in the family room because that will have the biggest impact on the whole family. This will keep the excitement and momentum moving forward.
Do you work with your clients or do they leave the home?
It's important the clients be at home because they are the ones who make the decisions on what stays and what goes. I'm there to guide them through the process and keep us moving forward. My goal is to help them create a home that they love and reflects who they are at this time in their life.
Do you tell your clients what they can and cannot keep?
No, the clients have complete control over what stays and what goes. I help them be clear on the decisions and keep the energy going towards their goal of being de-cluttered.
Why do some people feel they shouldn't use your services?
"I should be able to do it myself" is a comment I often hear. It's important to remember we are not born with the ability to do every job, and it's ok. When I have a plumbing problem, I call a plumber. Could I do it? Maybe, but it would take a lot of extra time and energy to figure it out.
Ask yourself how quickly do you want this task done? How much time and energy are you willing spend on this task doing it on your own? How would you rather be spending your time? Asking these questions will help you figure out if it is of value for you to hire a professional or not.
What benefits do your clients get after working with you?
As we work together, I teach a new set of skills where my clients will be able to keep their home organized long after I am gone. They will love their home again and be proud to show it off. My clients often feel a sense of pride in themselves for the work they have accomplished. They are left with a feeling of having a home that is not only organized and easy to maintain, but also truly reflects who they are.
What is the most gratifying thing you get from doing your job?
I love seeing the energy shift in my clients. To see them transform from feeling overwhelmed, frustrated and self-defeated to seeing a giant smile on their faces. Seeing how proud, excited and self confident they become after working with them for only a short while, I can almost physically see a weight lifted off their shoulders while they appear to be standing taller. That is why I do what I do!
